Hotel Safety

Follow these hotel safety tips and make them a habit as you travel to avoid dangerous situations and practice women's self defense.
First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life

Use valet parking when available. Unpack your vehicle of all personal items first. If valet parking is not an option, park in an area that is well lit, close to the lobby.

Do not park where there are people loitering. When ever leaving ask for an escort, it will be worth the tip.

Use only your first initial and last name when registering along with your business address and phone number.

Request a room within the main building of the hotel. Ask for a room above the third floor as most thefts from the outside take place on the first two floors .

Ask the front desk attendant to write down your room number rather than to say it out loud so that it is not overheard.

Do not flash large amounts of cash, or wear big jewelry pieces.

Do not use the stairs to get to your room- they are generally secluded and not well watched.

Make sure windows and doors are locked. When in the room use all locks, including deadbolts, chains and flip locks. Put valuables in room safe.

If someone knocks on the door don’t open it if you are not expecting anyone. Call the front desk if they claim they are hotel personal to check out their story. Always leave the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the outside of the door.

When leaving the room, leave the TV on so it is not evident that you are gone.

If you lose you key, report it immediately- request another room.

Bring and use a portable volumetric alarm. This will alarm if someone tries to open a window or door, with a key or without!

When you check out make sure you have all your belongings and ID’s.

Hotel safety is your responsibility also. Practice it and use all the security features that are offered by the facility.
