Hurricane Survival Kit

You’ll need a hurricane survival kit if you live anywhere near where a hurricane can possibly occur.

If you live on the coast in the direct path of a hurricane I would recommend evacuating when told to do so. Because of the slow moving nature of these massive storms, there are few options when it comes to hiding from the devastation. The wind and debris slowly peel the buildings apart as the lower levels fill with filthy water.

As slow as a tropical storm is, their paths are not totally predictable. If you live in an area that is questionable for a direct hit and you decided to ride it out, you’ll need a fully stocked hurricane survival kit.

You will need a few large sturdy plastic, waterproof, seal-able containers to pack. If you had to evacuate taking these containers with you could also prove helpful. Here is a comprehensive list of what to pack in your kit. I recommend you pack at least two weeks worth of everything for your entire family. Food items should be unpacked at the end of the season, used, and new food items packed at the beginning of next year’s season.
