Kuk Sool Won
Kuk Sool Won is a Korean Martial Art deeply rooted thousands of years ago. It now includes many modern techniques such as weapons improvisations and defense against guns. Click here to tell us about your club. The style relies on fluid motions, forceful strikes, joint locks and pressure points, combining hard and soft styles of Martial Arts. You Won Hwa is a major principle if this Martial Art which literally translates to "Water Circle Harmony". You means softness, adaptability and power. Won denotes a personal circle in which you are always active. Hwa signifies harmony between body and mind. Because it was banned in the early 1900 while the Japanese occupied Korea, practitioners were force to go into hiding. If Koreans were caught practicing this or any Martial Arts they faced severe punishment. Grandmaster Hyuk Suh was one of these practicing and later gave it its official name in 1961. In the 1970s it became well known to the public and expanded globally. This organization now has 1.3 million members and 800 schools worldwide in 27 countries. Although Grandmaster Suh is an expert in every aspect of Martial Arts he is especially renowned for hismastery of pressure points and joint manipulation.

Each rank level are required to know empty handed forms to be performed solo. Once a practitioner has attained their black belt they are introduced to solo weapon forms, sparring forms and technique forms. Achieving first degree black belt rank can take four to six years. Competition during tournament would include forms, techniques, board breaking and sparring.
