Personal Alarm
A Personal alarm is small electronic device carried on a key chain or lanyard that emits a high ear piercing sound when activated. This device is excellent of women and/or children's self defense.
Now here is something that I do approve of. If dropped it cannot be used against you. It does not increase the possibility of escalating the violence. When triggered, these units can project a siren of 120 decibels or more. Even fans of heavy metal rock should be uncomfortable with that! Your attacker does not want any extra attention brought to the situation, and that’s precisely what this does. The emitted sound surprises, distracts and disorients the assailant who will likely run away when that almost painful noise begins, and hopefully curious by standers, if not heroic angels will rush to your aid. This is an effective way of practicing passive self defense. It’s better than yelling or screaming which can be stopped with a blow to the face- if you even find your voice to start with. A personal alarm can be heard for a quarter of a mile, depending on the terrain. These are legal to carry anywhere- even airplanes! It requires no permits or special training. It can also be used to ward off vicious dogs or wild animals. In addition to having one for yourself this would be handy item from children to carry. It could be used to locate them if separated from parent or acting guardian.
